Hello Everyone!
Today it is Harry Potter’s 37th birthday (assuming I have done the maths correctly) and so I thought, to commemorate the occasion, I would do a post all about how far the books have come and what they mean to me.
Not only is it Harry Potter’s birthday, but it is also his creators birthday! J.K.Rowling released the first Harry Potter book on the 26th of June 1997 and since then it has taken off massively. There is quite literally not a child in this world that doesn’t know his name. The books and the world they contain has always meant a great deal to me. When I was younger they were read to me as bedtime stories and when I got a little older I read them for myself. I grew up with the characters in the books and I watched them learn and grow as people. It was these books that really sparked my love of reading (if you want to know more about that, then you can go and read my previous post on it here: https://www.samanthadrage.co.uk/2017/04/08/who-sparked-my-love-of-reading/ )
Even now, 20 years on from when the first book was published, there is still more content coming out. I went to see Fantastic Beasts and where to find them on opening weekend and bought the script the same day as well. I loved the film and I am over the moon about all of the new content the fandom is getting. I finished reading the books in 2014 and ever since I have been reading fanfiction and scrolling through tumblr trying to find new content, but clearly out pleas have been heard because look at where we are now. We have another film coming out next Christmas and It has just been announced that we are going to be receiving 2 new books this October as well! I am very excited and I imagine you all are as well. Happy Birthday Harry Potter and J.K.Rowling! What does Harry Potter mean to you? Are you excited for all of the new content?
Goodbye for now!
