My Bookish Boyfriends (Valentines Day Special)

Hello Everyone!

As I’m sure you’re all aware because of all the excessive marketing, it’s Valentines Day today! If you know me at all then you’ll know that I’m not even remotely interested in Valentines Day or relationships of any kind, so this day usually goes straight over my head with perhaps a little grumbling over all the temporary pink/red decorations. This year I thought I’d take advantage of the day though and use it as an excuse to talk about all of my fictional crushes! I’ve limited it to only 5 of them for you all, so you won’t be here all day and also so that I won’t be here all day writing this!

Just so you’re all aware before you start reading this post, this is purely an excuse for me to gush about all my favourite characters and yes you will very quickly see that I obviously and shamelessly have. a. type! Unfortunately for me, my type seems to be purely fictional though, so my bookish crushes will have to stay just that, but let’s just get talking about them…

William Herondale

You knew he was going to be on here… I don’t know what you expected! I adore William Herondale as everyone who knows me or has read even a few of my posts knows because I take every opportunity to shout about it, so you best believe I’m taking this one too! He is my beautiful broken boy and I will love him until my dying days… if only he was real… *sigh*

Jem Carstairs

Along a similar vein, I’m very much like Tessa here in that I also have quite a lot of time for Jem and would happily take him if Will was tied up with something else!

The Darkling

The Darkling from the Grishaverse is a somewhat controversial one because (no spoilers), but he is perhaps a little bit evil at times, but as you will see as you continue reading, a little bit evil with dark hair and angst is my type, so he was right up my ally. Let’s be honest here though you can’t read the Grisha trilogy and not fall for the Darkling at least a little!

Kaz Brekker

Oh look it’s another dark haired, angsty, smart and slightly evil boy! Kaz Brekker also has my heart, but I also fully ship him and Inej and would give anything for that ship to sail fully, so I’ll stick with one of my other boys for now. 😂

Isabelle Lightwood

This ones a little different because Isabelle is, of course a girl and while I generally consider myself to be a very straight girl, I adore Isabelle! I think with Isabelle my crush is more based on just how much I adore her and I would consider it an honour to let her walk all over me, but I would also settle for happily married too! I’m flexible guys!  Despite her being a girl though, can you still see my dark hair, badass type coming through?

Are you seeing my type yet? With the exception of Jem with his white hair (although he did originally have black hair it’s just that it has gone white, so technically he still fits), I prefer the dark haired, angsty, cunning and broken boys (+Isabelle). Other people may be getting fed up with seeing such similar characters in every book, but I will fall for it until the day I die, but lets be honest here, no one will EVER replace my dear William Herondale!

Also I am well aware that all 5 of these characters are from either the Shadowhunter world or the Grishaverse, but I don’t care because they are my real top 5 and saying anything else would be a lie! Anyway I did warn you that today was just an excuse for me to gush about my favourite characters, so I don’t know what you expected really…
