Hello Everyone!
I am so excited to be writing today’s post because I am going to be talking about all the books I’m hyped about coming out this year! I won’t be buying many books this year because I am really trying to save money for my future, but as always, the books on this list are an exception to that rule as well as any special editions by my favourite authors. My list of anticipated releases is actually very short this year, but that’s probably better for my bank account and I already have so many books to read, so I think I’ll live! I’ve put the books in order of release date to make it nice and easy, so let’s start talking about them!
Heartstopper: Volume 3 by Alice Oseman (6th of Feb)
If you’re subscribe to my Youtube channel, then you’ll know all about my love for the Heartstopper comics by Alice Oseman and that love does not end now that it is 2020! I’m sitting in Starbucks writing this and I actually squeled when I saw the third one was coming out in LESS THAN A MONTH!!! Do you love the Heartstopper comics?

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare (3rd of March)
We all know I love Cassandra Clare by this point, so I won’t waste time talking too much about her, but she has yet another book coming out and I think the TID gang will be in the Last Hours series, which I’m super excited about because TID are my favourite books of all time! I can’t wait to read about Will, Tessa and Jem again even though they aren’t the main characters.

Break Your Glass Slippers by Amanda Lovelace (17th of March)
I believe there was an Amanda Lovelace book on my anticipated releases list last year as well, which I actually think I still have to read, since last year wasn’t the best reading year, but she has another book coming out and it is the start of a new series! For those of you who don’t know, Amanda Lovelace is a poet and tends to have series of poetry books around the same theme, so i’m hyped to see what her new series is going to be like! I believe it has something to do with fairytales though from the title…
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (19th of May)
I was so surprised last year when it was announced that Suzanne Collins was going to be writing a prequel to The Hunger Games. THG is one of those classic YA series from 2012-14 era and I was sure we had left most of them behind (apart from Cassandra Clare of course, who never seems to sop writing!) and at first I was unsure because we all know how 90% of these things go when authors announce they’re doing a sequel/prequel years after the original book (we all remember Cursed Child 😬!), but I actually have a good feeling about this one. Suzanne Collins hasn’t let us down yet, so I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt for now an give it ago despite the usual trend.

Believe in your own magic by Amanda Lovelace (oracle deck) (30th of June)
Now technically this isn’t a book at all, but it is by Amanda Lovelace, who I’ve already mentioned and wanted to talk about her upcoming oracle deck she’s releasing. I’m not super into tarot or anything like that, but I do think the cards are pretty and it can be a bit of fun, so I think I’ll likely pick these up when they’re released. I know it’s not a book, but it is related to an author and kind of just wanted to mention them, but back to books now!

The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan (29th of September)
It wouldn’t be an anticipated releases list without the latest Rick Riordan book and 2020 hasn’t dissapointed. The final book in The Trials of Apollo series is being released in September this year, which is a little bittersweet since I don’t know if any of our beloved PJO gang will be in any later books he has planned, but I can’t wait to find out what happens all the same. I will say though that Rick had better not have killed anyone else because I’m not over the ending of The Burning Maze yet!

Those are all the books (and oracle decks! 😂) that made it onto my anticipated releases list, but I wanted to do a few honourable mention before I go. When I was searching for new releases I found that the sequel to King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo was on a lot of lists, but it doesn’t actually seem to be set to be released until 2021. I also found a mention of a 4th book in Sarah.J.Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series and the start of a whole new series! I’ve never actually read any of Sarah.J.Maas’s books despite owning them all because I wanted to wait until they were all out, so I didn’t feel like I could put those books on the anticipated releases list, but I thought I’d mention them because I’m sure a lot of other people will be talking about them and I WILL read Sarah.J.Maas’s books soon!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about all the books I’m excited for this year and that maybe a few of them caught your eye to add to your to-buy list. What books are on your anticipated releases list for 2020? I’d love to know, so leave a comment down below or come and chat to me over on my Instagram: @theoriginalbookdragon
Goodbye for now!

I’ve already pre-ordered my copy of ‘Heartstopper Vol 3’ signed from Waterstones, as well as Oseman’s July release ‘Loveless’ – she’s such a fantastic author and the diversity and depth of her characters makes my heart sing. I have also put myself on a bit of a book buying ban as my physical tbr is far too high at the moment…
I adore the Heartstopper comics and I agree her characters are so diverse, which is really refreshing to see!I think I have over 100 unread books in my room at the moment, so you’re not alone in having a huge TBR!
