Hello Everyone!
It’s a new year, which means a whole load of new releases are due to come out. There are loads of books coming out this year that I am excited about including a lot of sequels to already existing series, which is beyond exciting, so let’s just get into them:
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
You all knew this was going to be on this list. I haven’t shut up about Leigh Bardugo since I read her books last year (isn’t it weird to refer to 2018 as last year? -it hasn’t quite sunk in yet) and I’m not about to shut up about them now just because it is 2019. King of Scars is a book following Nicholi Lanstov who features in both The Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows Duology and he is one of my favourite characters. We’re going to get to here more about his story and we get to see characters from both of the previous series and I’m sCrEaMiNg!!!! I literally cannot wait and I am going to drop everything the day it comes out, (WHICH IS THIS MONTH DID YOU KNOW?!) and read it straight away!
Release Date: 29th January
The Mermaids Voice Returns In This One by Amanda Lovelace
On a slightly more calm note, Amanda Lovelace is also releasing what I think is the final book in her trilogy of poetry books. I have read ‘The Princess Saves Herself In This One’ and ‘The Witch Doesn’t Burn In This One’ and I loved them both. I resonate with so many parts of her poetry and they really spark something in me, so i can’t wait for this to come out, so I can read it!
Release Date: 5th March
The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare
Obviously there is a Cassandra Clare book on here and obviously I am excited about it! I don’t know how Cassie Clare does it, but she just keeps releasing books and this year we are getting no less than 3 books from her! 3! In one year! The first full novel we are getting is ‘The Red Scrolls of Magic’, which follows Alec and Magnus, which is something I knew I needed, but I never thought I’d get it! We are also getting a Novella Bind-up this year of the Ghosts of the Shadowmarket novellas that were released on e-book last year, which will also be released sometime in April.
Release Date: 2nd April
Again but Better by Christine Riccio
All I know about Again but Better is that it is about a girl who goes to school abroad. I also know that the author Christine Riccio is a booktuber and that this is her debut novel, but that’s really all I know. I don’t watch Christine, but I couldn’t avoid hearing about this book since booktubers books are always really hyped. Even though i don’t really know much about it, I am intrigued by the little that i do know and I’m always down to support other bookish content creators and new authors, so I’m definitely excited for this release.
Release Date: 7th May
The Tyrant’s Tomb (Trials of Apollo #4) by Rick Riordan
I cannot believe that I have to wait until September for the next instalment in the Trials of Apollo series! I put the thought of this series out of my mind after finishing The Burning Maze because I am STILL not over how it ended! I won’t spoil anything, but those that know know and I don’t know how much more pain I can take! Why Rick Why!?!
Release Date: 24th September
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
We are finally getting the first instalment in the Last Hours Series! We have been waiting for this series for something like 6 years now and we are finally getting the first book ‘Chain of Gold’ in November! It is still a long time to wait, but I cannot wait to read about the TID gangs children! I ADORE The Infernal Devices; Will, Jem and Tessa are truly some of my favourite characters, so I can’t wait to read about them again as well as what their descendants get up to.
Release Date: 19th November
Wayward Son by Rainbow RowellÂ
‘Wayward Son’ is the sequel to ‘Carry On’, which I’m sure everyone’s heard of even if they haven’t read it. It is sort of Harry potter parody story that Rainbow Rowell brought to life because it was such a huge part of her story ‘Fangirl’. In Fangirl, the main character, Cath is an esteemed fanfiction writer raising against the clock to get her fanfiction of how the famous ‘Simon Snow’ series is going to end before the release of the actual book. We get to see snippets of her fanfiction throughout the book and then we got to read the whole thing. We all though that was the end, but then they announced that there was going to be a sequel released in 2020. However, it appears the release date has been moved back to 2019, which is even more exciting! Before it seemed a bit too far off to get excited about, but now it is truly on it’s way and although we don’t have a solid release date it is coming this year!
Release Date: 2019 – exact date tbc
Those are some of my most anticipated releases for the year! I know there are an awful lot of other books and sequels coming out this year that people are excited about, but at this point I haven’t yet even started the series that are getting sequels, so I thought it would be a bit disingenuous to say I was anticipating them. This year I am really going to get my reading game on though and try and catch up on all of the series I haven’t read yet and hopefully make a dent in my TBR! Speaking of TBR’s I will be posting a 2019 TBR as my next post, so stick around to see what i’m hoping to get read this year! What are your most anticipated releases for this year? I’d love to know, so leave a comment down below or come and chat to me over on my Instagram (@theoriginalbookdragon)!
Goodbye for now!
