Hello Everyone
This is the first chapter in my new series Trying Change (inspired by Dottie James) where I am going to tell you how this week went, what I am hoping to achieve next week and what I learnt from this week. Before we get into that though I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all about my YouTube channel (Samantha Drage). I am going to be using that platform in addition to this one to share my journey with Trying Change and also just as another method to document my life. I’d really appreciate it if you went and checked it out. Now lets get on with how this week went.
This week I:
- Started working on my book
- Went on 2 walks
- Spent a day with my friend
- Started doing yoga
- Spent a day in Nottingham (this was difficult)
- Had loads of great ideas!
This week has been really eye-opening for a lot of reasons. I have been learning what my boundaries are for a while now, but I have learnt more in this one week of Trying Change than in the several months previously. It has taught me what I am capable of doing socially in a week, creatively in a week and the amount I can expect to get done on any given day.
Something else I have been learning to do it to take time out of working and doing all the things I want to do to do something simple or something just for me. I really like walking, so I have been walking more and listening to a podcast while I do it (Kalyn’s Coffee Talks – I highly recommend!). I have also started to doing yoga and been making more time for reading in my day.
I am feeling really positive about how this is going and I hope that I continue to do so. It hasn’t necessarily made me any happier, but that isn’t the aim of this so that is okay. What it has done though is got me working and doing things despite that and I am learning to do the things I want to whilst taking care of myself at the same time, which is a big step forward if you ask me. I have some busy weeks ahead of me now though, so we will see if I manage to keep it up.
These are some of the things I’d like to get done in the coming week:
- Continue working on my book (write more poems and work on the concept for me novel)
- Text one of my friends and arrange to do something in the next few weeks
- Walk at least 3 times
- Sketch out the illustration ideas that I have and paint them if I have time
- Finish the book I am currently reading and review it for my blog
- Get my hair cut and dyed
Those are things that I am hoping to get done this week. Some of them are the next steps to completing some of the projects I a working on, some are preparing me to go back to school in a few weeks time and some are just for me. How has your week been?
Goodbye for now
