Hello Everyone!
Today I thought I would share my June TBR with you all! In the past, I would never really share with you what I was planning to read in a month because I felt it might put too much pressure on me to read just so that I could complete my TBR. My reading is never really that consistent, so some months I will read 8-15 books and some months I will barely finish 2. This year I have been reading a lot more though as I have been reading at least a little every single day as part of one of my new years resolution. Sometimes I only read a page, but that’s okay. I’m a lot more confident with my reading now than when I first started this blog, so I feel comfortable sharing my reading plans for the month without it putting too much pressure on me.
For June I have gone for a small TBR because I have exams approaching, so I will be spending a lot of time preparing for those, which will of course eat into my reading time. I’m okay with that though because I read 10 books in May (as you’d know if you read my May Wrap-up), which is really impressive for me, so I think that makes up for it. You came to read about my TBR though, so let’s get into it:
The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
The Grisha Trilogy has been on by TBR since I joined the book community 18 months ago. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this trilogy and about Leigh Bardugo’s writing. I read Wonder Woman by her at the very beginning of this year and I LOVED it! I adore Wonder Woman and I though the writing and really everything about it was exquisite. After reading that I bought the Grisha Trilogy as well as her Six of Crows duologie. I have been really in the mood for some fantasy, so I thought it was about time I picked these up. Having had some previous experience with Leigh Bardugo’s writing, I thought these would be good because I found her writing really quick and easy to read, so I thought I’d be able to get through them quickly despite it being exam season. It seems I was right as well as I have now started Shadow and Bone and I am flying through it!
Leah on the Off Beat by Becky Albertalli
Leah on the Off Beat has been on by TBR from the second I finished ‘Simon vs the Homosapien Agenda’ a few months back. I went and picked it up immediately, but I then got caught up in re-reading Harry Potter and ever since I have been on a bit of fantasy kick. I feel like I’m finally coming down from that though and with the warm, but humid weather we’ve been having I felt a god contemporary was what I needed. I can’t wait to get back into the ‘Simon-verse’. I adored ‘Simon vs the Homosapien Agenda’ and can’t wait to see the film when it finally comes out on DVD as I missed the cinema release. I have very high expectations for this one, but from what I have heard, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.
Girlhood by Cat Clarke
This is a book I picked up on a bit of a whim. I have been hearing people talk about it for ages and a lot of people say it is really good, so I thought why not? I had a book voucher and I needed some more contemporary because i had read through most of mine, so I picked it up. I don’t know anything about it and I think I am going to keep it that way. I have been told that it is in the same vein as ‘Moxie’ and the ‘Normal series’, so if that is true I reckon I will enjoy it. I have read and loved the Normal series by Holly Bourne and I have been wanting to read Moxie for ages, so I am hoping I will like this one to. I am going to try and go into without any expectations though, so that I can completely form my own opinion.
That is my June TBR! It only consists of 5 books, but I think that is about right for the busy month that I am having. I have exams, school trips, coursework and family events this month, so it is going to be hectic. I am taking part in a readathon that is being hosted by @thebeautyandthebookstore on Instagram on the Saturday the 16th of June.I am hoping this will work out and will consequently be a nice break from school and will help be get ahead on by TBR in case I have fallen behind. What are you planning to read this month? Have you read any of these books? I’d love to know!
Goodbye for now!
