Hello Everyone!
Today I have another book review and it is on the book Areh by Jeffrey Kinsey. I am very excited to share this with you all because this is something slightly different. Let me tell you all how it came about. Whilst I was in America just over a month ago, Jeffrey reached out to me and asked me to review his book. I of course jumped at the opportunity and I was very excited to get home and start reading. Unfortunately I couldn’t start reading immediately because I had a lot of school work to catch up on while I had been away, but once I got round to it I really did enjoy it.
Areh is a very different style of book to what I am used to, but as you all know by now I am trying to challenge myself this year to read a variety of genres rather than just my normal YA fiction. Areh is possibly aimed at slightly older readers, but I enjoyed it all the same. Throughout the whole book I was never sure what was going to happen next. It really kept me on my toes. I was also really impressed with the way Jeffrey has used modern day ‘teen speak’ and made it worked with his sophisticated style of writing. I was also shocked with the originality of his work. I have never read anything even close to similar to Areh. The entire world was so unique, which is something that is incredibly difficult to do with so many authors these days. The last thing that I though Jeffrey did really well was switching points of view. I have mentioned a couple of times before that this is something quite complex and if it isn’t done correctly then it can completely screw up a book, but I though it was done very well. The point of view changed and the time period changed and it was all done very fluidly.
Overall I think that Areh is a magical book and I really enjoyed it. I am so grateful that I got this opportunity to review Jeffrey’s book for him and I hope that if he is reading this he knows how much it means that he reached out to me. I recommend this book to all of you and if you want to see what else Jeffrey Kinsey does then you can check out his website: www.jeffreykinsey.com
I’ll see you all on Monday readers.
Goodbye for now!
