Hello World
Today I thought I would write about a selection of very common problems in the bookish community. These problems are usually called ‘Bookworm Problems’ and today I thought I would list 10 of the most common ones that I have seen and experienced myself so I won’t waste anymore of your time and I will get straight into it:
Money
Money is probably the most commonly mentioned problem online and in the book world. There are so many books available and there is so much merch available for said books that it is simply impossible to earn enough money to satisfy the need to buy more especially when you are in your youth.
Spoilers
Another incredibly common issue is spoilers. They are all over the internet and even just browsing harmlessly through Tumblr could lead you right to a spoiler for the book you are reading. It is the most annoying thing out there to have a book spoiled for you but it is even worse when a person ruins it for you. It has happened to me several times when I have been having a conversation with someone and they have spoiled the ending of a book for me and sometimes they even do it deliberately!
Spoiling myself
On a similar note and one I think most bookish people will understand is that moment when you are reading a really tense scene and then your eyes skip to the bottom of the page or the end of the chapter and you spoil yourself. I do it all the time and it is the most annoying thing but something that I can’t seem to not so. Does any one else do this?
No one understanding your reference
Admit it. We have all been here. Having a conversation when you make a reference to a book and laugh but no one laughs with you because they haven’t read they book and then everyone just looks at you like your a lunatic… Every time.
What is your favourite book?
This is a question that I get asked a lot and while it seems like a very simple question to most it just isn’t that simple to us. When someone asks me this I am never quite sure what to say; I love all the books I read and I take away something different from every book. I have learnt so much by reading and I honestly just cannot choose a favourite.
Too many new release dates
Another common problem is all the new books being released. I love that there is a constant stream of books for us all to read, but when your TBR pile is so big you had to make two having all of your fabourtie authors releasing all these new books is just a little bit problematic.
Trying to find a comfy reading position
This is the age old one. What position is comfy to read in? I have found a fairly decent one, but it only works if I am at home. What about it the car, at school or at relatives houses? It is the question that no one can answer but maybe we will one day and save our backs from the pain.
Having to wait for the next one
I. Hate. This. So many times I have picked up a book only to then fall in love with it and then get to the end and find that I have to wait a year (or more) for the next one. It is the most awful thing and is only made worse if the book ends on a cliff hanger. (Yes I am looking at you Rick Riordan and Victoria Aveyard).
People wanting to touch/borrow your books
This is the last one I am going to include but I think I can safely say that this is the worst. I don’t know about anyone else but I cannot deal with people touching my books. Other people just don’t have the same respect for them They bend them, drop food in them or spill water on them. They even dog ear the pages! I refuse to lend books to anyone but my closest friends (who are also bookworms) because I know that they will be looked after.
There we go. That is a short round up of some of the most common ‘Bookworm Problems’. Do any of you have any of these problems and does anyone else remember the pain of having to wait for the House of Hades to come out so the we could find our what happened to our precious OTP? I sure do!
