Hey Everyone!
I have now been back in England for 4 days and I am still getting over my jetlag, but I am hoping it will be gone soon because I have exam week next week and I need to be focused and awake for that! Today I thought I would review the tales from the Shadowhunter academy for you all. This is a series of 10 short stories written by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Robin Wasserman and Maureen Johnson. All 10 books were based around Simon and his life after the Mortal Instruments. I won’t tell you anything that happens but I will tell you why I really enjoyed reading them!
I really liked the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy and one of the reasons why is because they are very short stories. Instead of writing one big novel, they split them up into 10, easy to read, stories that in total take about 40-70 minutes to read. (Depending on how fast you read). I also really loved this mini series because of how real everything was. Everything in there was true to real life and how things would be had the situation actually occured. Something I love about Cassandra Clare’s books in general is the way she portrays the Clave as untrustworthy, unfair and not always right. The portrayal of the government figures being sometimes untrustworthy is very accurate and I think it gives people something to relate to.
The final thing that really grabbed me about these books is, of course, that I got to find out what happened next. I have read so many books where it leaves you at the end of the characters adventures and you never see them again! You have to rely on fanfiction and your own imagination, but these books are like fanfiction come to life. It is everything I could have asked for and ties off all of the loose ends.
In conclusion I highly recommend all of Cassandra Clares books to you. I should, however, warn you that should you delve into the world of Cassandra Clare it is likely that you will be there for a while. She has a series of 6 (the mortal instruments), a trilogy (the infernal devices), 10 short stories (tales from the Shadowhunter academy), a character specific story (the bane chronicles) and several more that I won’t bore you with listing. Either way I recommend them all!
I hope you are all having a great week and wish me luck on my exams next week. When is your exam week? Do you have one?
Goodbye for now!
