I don’t know about any of you guys, but I have been reading for pretty much my whole life. From a really young age I was reading and used to love it when my Mum would read to me before bed. From the age of 8 I was bringing books in to read at school in the mornings while I waited outside for the gate to open, or while I waited for the rest of the class to get there. I would even read at lunch and break because who wants to run around when you can read your book? I especially loved when it rained and we all got to be inside at lunch and break and while everyone lese played with Lego I would read my book. Because my reading history goes back so far I thought that I would share with you some of the books I loved during my childhood…
The first books I am going to talk about are the Percy Jackson books. These were such a staple books during my childhood I remember the pain of having to wait for the next one to come out before I could read them. It was my Mum that introduced them to me and she used to read them as bedtime stories. My sister and I would always beg for “Just one more chapter” and even to this day I am still beyond obsessed with Rick Riordans work. I have read every book he has ever released and I am waiting in anticipation for the next instalments in the Trials or Apollo and Magnus Chase Series.
The second series I am going to tell you about is the Chronicles of Narnia. Pretty much everyone has read these or at least seen the films and that is because they are just to amazing to not have read. I watched the films when I was very young before I knew they were books, but when I found out that they were I was absolutely ecstatic. I read them towards the end of my primary school years when I was 10/11 and the only thing I can say is that they are amazing. Still to this day when someone asks me where I am going I will reply with “Narnia!” and I even have a homemade sign on my wardrobe that says This Way to Narnia!
The Chocolate Box Girls. If you haven’t read these books, then I don’t care how old you are, you just need to read them. They are based around one big family and each book in the series is from a different sisters perspective. Even if you are 21 years old and in university you should still reads these because they have such powerful messages. One of the sisters is anorexic, one is unstable and runs away a lot, one is passionate about the safety of animals and there is so much more in between. I truly loved these books and they taught be a lot about the world that most people wouldn’t tell you because of them being ‘taboo subjects’, so honestly just them a read.
The last series is another one that I followed through until the end, waiting patiently for each new book to come out and that series is Pony Club Secrets. This series follows a girl and her adventures though the teenage years and all the trouble she gets into. She competes in horse riding competitions, films movies, stops people from hurting her horses and sabotaging competitions and even goes to Spain, all while under the protection of the spirit of her old horse who died saving her life. This was such an amazing light-hearted series which really sparked my love of horses.
Those are just a few of the series that I loved as a child and I would have loved to included more, but trust me when I say if I try to include all of them we will be here all day. Maybe I will do a part 2 or a follow up to this and tell you all about some of the others. Would you like that? If you would then leave a comment telling me so and I will see what I can do for you all.
Goodbye for now!
