The only thing I can think of to say is OMG!
Let me explain….
So I bought and decided to read All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Everyone was reading it and saying that it was really good, so I gave in a gave it a try. I was not disappointed! It is definitely up the top on my favourite book list and it had me sobbing.
You are probably wondering what it is about, so let me tell you that in short (like the cover says) “it is a story about a girl who learns to live from a boy that wants to die.” I am not going to tell you anymore than that, so if you want to know more you will just have to read the book.
I always think to myself after reading a book, “Why did I like it so much? What is it about this book that made feel so much?” Truly the answer is I don’t know. I fall in love with almost every book I pick up and in short I just love reading, but this time around I really do know what I loved about it and that is that it is so real.
As I have mentioned before I am not always so keen on books set in the real world, but this one really hit home. The book covers grief after you lose a loved one, suicide, disorders and struggles that we are usually kept in the dark about unless you are unfortunate enough to have to live with one. It covers bulling and people hiding behind masks in order to stop themselves getting bullied or to hide what they are really going through from people around them. All of these things and more are things that are all to real and don’t get enough recognition. After all if you can’t see it, it isn’t real right? Wrong! They are all to real and Jennifer Niven has managed to cover almost all of them in one book and put a really good, inducing story to go with it. She makes you fall in love with the characters, their life, their relationships and then she takes it all away.
Jennifer Niven is an amazing writer and if you haven’t already BUY THE BOOK!!! I promise that you will not regret it even though you may sob for a few hours after, but then isn’t that every book? Remember that no matter what you are going through you are worth it and you can pull through!
Goodbye for now!
